2012 Audi A6 sedan is likely to adopt a new design that has not yet been seen on the earlier A6 models. The new A7 Sportsback seems to have influenced the design choice for the new A6 model. Built on a conventional steel chassis, the new 2000 Audi A6 will be designed to match A7’s design. The new luxury sedan makes use of several aluminum components in order to keep the overall weight of the car at the lowest. However, the traditional steel coil springs will continue to be used in the standard suspension. Moreover, an optional air suspension is also likely to be available.

2012 Audi A6 is sporting a new front clip. Angular headlights — with Audi’s signature LED pattern — are easy to see, along with new styling on the lower front fascia. New door handles and side mirrors are also present on this prototype. New character lines will grace the sedan’s doors.
2012 Audi A6 will undergo a big change underneath, moving from the Volkswagen’s Group C chassis to Audi’s MLB, modular aluminum chassis, platform.

Powertrains for the U.S. market should consist of a supercharged 3.0L V6 and the new 4.0L V8 Audi is currently working on. Two new transmissions will also be in store for the new A6 — an 8-speed automatic and a 7-speed dual clutch.
There is a strong chance that the next A6 will be available with an entry-level 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder, which will make north of 200 hp. The next engines likely will be two variations of the supercharged 3.0-liter V-6, just like in the 2011 Q7. Above that, we are entering S territory: The next S6 will be powered by the same 400-hp, 4.0-liter turbocharged V-8 that will move the S7 and the next S8, but with slightly more power. The Euro-only RS6 will have a successor as well, and we believe the current 580-hp turbocharged V-10 will give way to a turbo V-8 with a very similar power rating.
